Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox Rained Out Once Again
By Matt Snyder
The game between the Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox for Wednesday, April 5 has been postponed due to weather.
The Detroit Tigers and Chicago White Sox open the season one-for-three as they have their second game called due to weather in three days.
The postponement was announced early (before 10:00 a.m.), but near-freezing temperatures and a high chance of rain wasn’t going to make this game a fun one for either the player or the fans.
Jason Beck of MLB.com reports that Wednesday’s game has been postponed with a makeup date of May 26 having been announced.
It’s interesting that they’ll play a traditional double header on the makeup date. Those are rare these days as clubs try to squeeze out as much ticket revenue as possible by splitting the sessions into day and night games.
In this case, the Tigers and White Sox will begin game one at 5:10 p.m. (eastern time, 4:10 p.m. local) and then immediately roll into game two upon the conclusion of the first game.
If you’re looking for an excuse to go to a road game, this might be the one to do it as you’ll get two games for the price of one. May 26 is a Friday night, so it presents a good opportunity to call in sick and drive to Chicago instead.
Jordan Zimmermann was scheduled to pitch today’s game with Daniel Norris slated to take the ball tomorrow. It’s not yet clear if they’ll push Zimmermann back a day or push back his first start to the weekend’s home opening series against the Boston Red Sox.

The Tigers and White Sox will attempt to wrap up the series on Thursday afternoon. This current system of rain is supposed to continue until tomorrow morning but is projected to dissipate around noon.
