Detroit Lions team president Rod Wood revealed when the team will wear their Color Rush and throwback uniforms during the 2017 season.

The Detroit Lions didn’t end up wearing Color Rush uniforms last season even through they technically had one. Nike made 2016 Color Rush uniforms for all 32 NFL teams, but the Lions never wore them since they didn’t play a Thursday night game.

They don’t have a Thursday night game again in 2017, but they will be wearing the 2017 version of their Color Rush that was unveiled earlier in the offseason.

They have also technically had a throwback as their alternate uniform, but haven’t worn that in several years. That will also change in 2017.

According to team president Rod Wood during an appearance on WJR this morning, the Lions will wear their throwbacks on Thanksgiving Day against the Minnesota Vikings and their Color Rush on December 16 against the Chicago Bears.

The December 16 game isn’t a Thursday, but it is a Saturday night, keeping the tradition of NFL teams wearing Color Rush uniforms for games outside of the normal Sunday afternoon time slots.
