Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers: Start time, TV, radio, injury report
By Zac Snyder
With the Detroit Lions set to take on the Green Bay Packers in week 9 of the 2017 NFL Season, here is all the important info you need for today’s game.
At what point in the season is it fair to label a game a must-win? It may not be this early but tonight’s game between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers has a hint of desperation attached. That is certainly the case for the 3-4 Lions if they are to mount a run toward the playoffs. That could also be said for the 4-3 Packers who will need to tread water in hopes of getting Aaron Rodgers back within striking distance of a playoff berth of their own.
For the Lions, the easier portion of their 2017 schedule begins tonight. The injury to Rodgers means that starts a week earlier, but finding wins on the road against the Packers has been a problem for the Lions long before Rodgers suited up in Green Bay. Even the Matt Flynn-led Packers were able to knock off the Lions at Lambeau in a game that meant nothing to the hosts.
A Lions loss tonight doesn’t end their season but it makes the road ahead difficult. Falling to 3-5 would mean being tied with the Chicago Bears for last in the NFC North while the Packers move two games head of the Lions and the Vikings would be three games clear of the Lions at the top. To make matters worse, the Lions would fall even further behind in the Wild Card chase, where they are already in a muddled mix of teams including some like the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons who hold a head-to-head advantage over the Lions.

Is it a must win for the Lions? Not really, but they would need a Wayne Fontes-era playoff push streak to get themselves back in position to make the postseason.
