The Detroit Jock City writers make their predictions for the Detroit Lions’ week 17 home game against the Green Bay Packers.

Each week, the Detroit Jock City staff will make their picks for that week’s Detroit Lions game with a quick take on the matchup and a final score.

The Detroit Lions don’t have anything to play for but we’ve got a championship to decide here. It’s a three-way tie atop the DJC Lions prediction contest, will any of the three go out on a limb to try to secure the season win, or will they all go the same way?

Here is what the DJC writers see for this week’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

Mike Rizzo (9-6) – The Lions wrap up their disappointing season today against the Packers. The Packers are resting all their stars, Lions should win another meaningless game. Hopefully this is Jim Caldwell’s last game as coach of the Lions. Lions 21, Packers 10

Bruce Walker (9-6) – This week’s game against the Green Bay Packers means nothing on the big stage. At home here, things are a bit different. The Lions win, I get breakfast from my friend, Matt. They lose, I owe him a breakfast. That is not exactly high drama but more than the Lions will be playing for. I think that the Lions will win but we’ll get to that in a bit.

By Sunday night, the Lions will officially be looking for a new head coach. That, in and of itself will generate interest this offseason. But first, the Packers: Since October 15th, they have gone 3-7 and have been shut out twice—both times at Lambeau Field – for the first time since 2006. The Packers are stinging from the beatdown that the Minnesota Vikings gave them last week and the Lions are frustrated and discouraged after losing their must-win game against the lowly Cincinnati Bengals. Aaron Rodgers will observe the game from the safety of injured reserve. And since this comes from deep in Packerland, I always hope that the Lions win 65-0. I will settle for this: Lions 21, Packers 13

Matt Snyder (9-6) – The Lions will beat the Packers on Sunday and Jim Caldwell will (rightly) keep his job with a 9-7 record. There will be no playoffs for the Lions this season, but blowing out the Packers in Week 17 will have to suffice as a consolation prize. Lions 27, Packers 10

Matt Bosko (8-7) – I insist that this Lions team fights for Jim Caldwell, and believe they will take advantage of an injury-raveged Packers team. Yeah, it’s a shame that the playoffs are not at stake in such a winnable game, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to play for. A lot of guys will turn out to support their head coach, while others will want to show their best on tape for whoever takes over. I see the Lions fighting hard until the bitter end to a disappointing season, and winning handily. Lions 31, Packers 10

More from Detroit Lions

Ash Thompson (8-7) – No pick

Zac Snyder (7-8) – I don’t want to hear any talk of the team rising up to play for the head coach. The time to do that was last week in Cincinnati but the team laid an egg and now they get a meaningless game as a result. Still, I do think this team has too much character to just fold up, particularly in front of a home crowd. Lions 22, Packers 16

Jack Ozark (7-8) – It’s the last game of the season and all hope is lost. So of course the Lions are going to show up. I’ve predicted them to go 16-0 this season and I’m not going to stop that now. Let’s all watch as Stafford takes us into the off-season on a high note. Lions 27, Packers 17

Colton Wesley (6-9) – No pick

Zack Caldwell (6-9) – No pick
