1. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts endured a lot of pain leading up to the start of last season.  It was a franchise put together by general manager Chris Ballard over a few years that was finally ready to win-now.  It was during a preseason game word came out that Andrew Luck was set to shock the world and, more importantly, Colts nation as he abruptly announced this retirement.

More from Detroit Lions

Imagine that, a franchise that needed to be rebuilt, an offensive line that is ready to finally excel, something they hadn’t had since Payton Manning left, and a franchise quarterback that’s finally healthy.  Many were picking the Colts as serious contenders to win the AFC, or at least give the Chiefs and Ravens all they could handle.

With Luck out of the picture, head coach Frank Reich was left with Jacoby Brissett.  Brissett, an excellent backup quarterback that can keep an organization afloat if an injury were to occur, but he’s not a franchise-caliber quarterback, not someone you build around.

Expect the Colts to seek an upgrade this offseason, even as odd as it would look, perhaps Tom Brady dawning the rival Colts uniform.

The Colts have a respectable run game led by Marlon MackJack Doyle is an above-average tight-end that serves as a great security blanket, plus the team still has T.Y. Hilton, who remains a downfield, big-play threat.

Brissett isn’t one to ‘grip it and rip it’ like Luck did when he was having success, but Stafford is that type of QB.  The Colts need to find at least one more big-play receiver this offseason along with an upgrade at quarterback to once again get into the AFC title conversation, who better than Matthew Stafford.

For the record, he’s used to playing in a dome, and the O-line would be far and away the best he’d have in his career.  A Stafford/Reich offensive would be extremely dangerous.
