Detroit Tigers Hypothetical #2: The organization squeaks into the playoffs after a hot start.

Now, the sad part about this is, optimism goes out the window. Be optimistic enough to think the Tigers will make the playoffs, but reality will hit soon after. The Tigers have been off to a roaring start, pun intended, but there’s no way it holds up in the playoffs.

Even given the Tigers have a heck of a run, they have little to no playoff experience across the roster, and it has to be terrifying to think they would have to go through a team like the Yankees. So even if by some strange account the Tigers make the playoffs, prepare for a curb-stomping.

Do not expect the Tigers to do much of anything in a postseason run for the 2020 season; there is just no way this happens given the teams they will have to face. Looking at the Tigers, they are just not built to take down a team like the Twins or Yankees or dare I suggest… the Astros.

Personally, watching the Tigers’ early regular-season success has been refreshing and filled with optimism. However, reality sets in, and it becomes apparent that this is the Tigers, and even with expanded playoffs, they have a tough road ahead of them in any postseason contention.

For anyone who wants to say the Washington Nationals got hot at the right time in 2019, please look at the disparity in the two organization’s rosters. The conversation starts and ends with the starting rotations, but even upon further review, the similarities are slim to none.

All for the optimism and joy that comes from watching the Tigers look as if they are piecing things together, but reality has to put this train to a halt at some point.
