The Detroit Tigers could spend big on shortstop Corey Seager.

If the Detroit Tigers want to operate on the “go big or go home” attitude, they should sign Corey Seager. If the Tigers are going to leave a blank check on the table for a player, it should be Seager and not Carlos Correa.

The former Rookie of the Year has spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’s coming off a 2021 season where he slashed .306/.394/.521 over 95 games with 16 home runs, 57 RBI, and 41 total extra-base hits.

Seager is the best option among the available shortstops and needs to be targeted by the Tigers this offseason. He would add a nice punch to the Tigers lineup and be a piece that the team were to build around for years to come.

While this town is going to be calling for Avila’s firing, if they do not sign Correa, Seager is the better option at the price they will likely pay. Do not get it twisted, the deal that Seager receives is going to be pretty massive, but it may not be as greedy and massive as the one Correa gets.

If the Tigers want to maximize their signings for the future but still spend big, Seager is the best option for them to add in a quality player. This offseason, the Tigers should be targeting Corey Seager and be backing up the Brinks truck for him.
