The Detroit Lions will play host to the Arizona Cardinals in this Sunday’s matchup at Ford Field. This comes in a week where they were put into enhanced COVID-19 protocols, and the Lions brass has to be wondering when the end of the season will come.

It’s the harsh reality of how this season is shaping up for the 1-11-1 Detroit Lions, who are going to have to find a way to beat the 10-3 Arizona Cardinals if they want to take home a victory this week.

I’m trying to be optimistic, but who am I kidding? Throw in the towel on the Lions getting to two wins this weekend. But, that does not mean the bettors have to click away; there’s always a point spread and over/under to take a look at.

The Lions are battling injuries and COVID-19 issues, but the Cardinals are without DeAndre Hopkins. They are also coming off a short week of rest after a loss to Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football.

Detroit Lions will look to salvage a “good game” this Sunday.

The Detroit Lions lost tight-end T.J. Hockenson for the rest of the season after season-ending thumb surgery, so the ailing offense is going to be in an even tougher spot. It’s clear that the Lions are going to need all the help they can get if Jared Goff is going to get anything going.

But, the bottom line is that the Cardinals’ explosive offense led by Kyler Murray is no match for the Lions’ ailing defense. Murray’s ability to scramble out of the pocket and still salvage completions or run for yardage is what is going to lead to problems.

The Lions’ defense struggled with the Denver Broncos’ run-heavy offense in last weekend’s blowout loss. With James Conner and possibly Chase Edmonds occupying the Cardinals backfield, it seems hard to believe that the Lions will be able to put up many big stops.

But then again, the COVID-19 bug is killing the team’s cornerback room which could lead to Murray spreading the ball around some more and taking advantage of the Lions’ defensive mishaps and mistakes.

Detroit Lions betting odds, spread, and prediction

According to WynnBET, the Arizona Cardinals are favored by 12.0 points at the time of writing this betting preview. With the -12.0 point line favoring the Cardinals, the Over/Under is set at 47.5 points on the game.

Prediction: The Cardinals are locks Moneyline, and that’s obvious. But looking deeper, even with a 12-point spread, the Cardinals offense against the Lions… it’s hard not to like it. For this weekend’s matchup, I predict that the Cardinals will put up some serious points, and the Lions will struggle to do much of anything. That being said, going with the Cardinals to cover and taking the over is the play to consider.
