The last thing the Detroit Lions need at this stage of the season is for the injury bug to spread to the offensive side of the ball. The team is already decimated by injuries defensively and can't afford to also be short-handed on the offensive end, especially when they are about to face a grueling schedule, with games against the Chiefs, Bucs, Vikings, Commanders, and the Eagles up next.
That is why Lions fans hated seeing Amon-Ra St. Brown's name on the injury report on Wednesday with a DNP designation. St. Brown was reportedly dealing with a wrist injury, but fortunately, these concerns were eased on Thursday when the star receiver returned to practice. After the practice, however, he shared that he has been dealing with this wrist issue for "a little while", and it has been bothering him, per The Pride of Detroit's Jeremy Reisman.
Before Lions fans start to worry about their star pass-catcher, he added that there is "nothing to worry about" and that "it will be all good".
Amon-Ra St. Brown Isn't Worried About His Lingering Injury
Hopefully, the extra day of rest was enough for the wrist to feel better, but Lions fans will have to keep an eye on St. Brown in Week 6 and beyond. Lingering injuries tend to get re-aggravated or get worse with wear and tear.
So far in his career, St. Brown has never had an injury that the Detroit Lions had to worry about. He has consistently been one of the most durable players in the league, only missing two games in his career. This wrist injury is not going to sideline him for any games, but if it keeps lingering and starts to impact his play, the Lions may have to make a decision on the best way to address the issue.
Fortunately, the Lions only have two more games before heading into the bye week. This will give St. Brown, as well as all the injured players, an extra week of rest before embarking on the second half of the season. For now, the Lions have nothing to worry about. St. Brown is catching a career-high 85.4% of his targets this season, and is on pace for 119 catches, 1,384 yards, and 20 touchdowns through five weeks. A minor wrist injury is not going to slow someone who has been putting those stats up.
