Ahmed Hassanein has been turning heads in training camp, not necessarily only because he has been looking bigger and more athletic while making plays. It's also because he brings more energy and intensity than anyone else out there. In fact, he is seemingly giving it his 200% at all times, earning praise from the coaching staff and love from the fans.
No play sums up Hassanein's training camp performance more than when he puked in the end zone after a defensive stop and let out a huge scream on Monday. Even with everyone being used to Hassanein's screams, the fans went crazy.

Campbell talked about Hassanein on Tuesday, and his remarks explain why the 24-year-old defender is the perfect Lions player. He said that the defensive end "doesn't take a water break off" and added, "Sometimes he gets out of his mind and goes a little rogue, but you'd rather it be that way and pull back on him...He doesn't cower from anything, he wants it," per team insider Nolan Bianchi.
It makes sense why the coaching staff and the fans would be so enamored with this guy. Hassanein became a fan favorite last season despite missing all of his rookie year.
After suffering an unfortunate pectoral injury before the season that kept him from making his NFL debut, Hassanein made it clear that he only wanted to play for the Lions. Even though he had interest elsewhere around the league after he was waived with an injury settlement last year, he wanted to repay the Lions for taking a chance on him.
Now, he is putting his money where his mouth is. After entering training camp firmly in the roster bubble, Hassanein has established himself as a near lock to make the 53-man roster.
Aidan Hutchinson, DJ Wonnum, and Derrick Moore are obviously in. With Hassanein's emergence and Payton Turner's injury that has sidelined him in camp, that fourth defensive end spot on the roster is Hassanein's to lose. Barring an injury, Hassanein is inching towards making his Lions debut, where he will hope to add to his iconic presence within the organization.
