The NFL offseason has officially hit June, bringing teams around the league one step closer to this year's training camps. The Detroit Lions' journey continues with the resumption of organized team activities (OTAs) on Wednesday, marking the final stop before training camp since head coach Dan Campbell decided not to hold a mandatory minicamp this month.

As OTAs enter their final stretch, bubble players are still fighting to prove they belong on an NFL roster, whether that's in the Motor City or elsewhere. In fact, one former Lions pass-catcher just landed a fresh opportunity with an AFC playoff contender to begin June.

Former Lions TE Caden Prieskorn Signs With Broncos to Begin June

On Tuesday afternoon, the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel reported that the Denver Broncos have signed former Lions tight end Caden Prieskorn to a contract as OTAs continue.

Prieskorn's time in Detroit was brief, to say the least. The Lions signed the former Ole Miss TE as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL draft, offering a chance for the Lake Orion, MI-born playmaker to live out his dreams with his local pro team.

Much to his dismay, though, Prieskorn's Lions tenure lasted less than a week, as he was waived from his contract on May 12. Detroit's Sam LaPorta-led TE room already boasts the likes of Brock Wright, Kenny Yeboah, and Shane Zylstra, making the former Ole Miss product's presence unnecessary.

It'll be interesting to see if Prieskorn ends up sticking with the Broncos. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound TE showed some potential during the last two seasons with the Rebels, recording 57 catches for 850 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 23 games, even earning second-team All-SEC honors in 2023.

The Broncos did sign star TE Evan Engram to a two-year, $23 million contract in free agency; however, the veteran's injury history is well documented. Perhaps Denver signed Prieskorn to flesh out its tight end depth in case Engram suffers another injury, either during offseason workouts or the regular season.

As great as it would've been to see a Michigander thrive with the Lions, some players just aren't good fits for certain teams. The Lions won't be facing the Broncos in 2025, though, meaning Prieskorn might have to wait some time before he gets the chance to exact revenge on his hometown team.
