The Detroit Lions are seeking to compete for a Super Bowl this year and are looking at all avenues
to improve. The last big chance to make some additions is via trades, and the deadline is on Nov. 4.

The Lions may not stand pat after the latest report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini. On Saturday, she reported that Detroit is making calls around the league and is searching for an edge rusher.

She also revealed that the Miami Dolphins have been receiving a lot of calls on EDGE Bradley Chubb. He would be an ideal target for the Lions. Considering the Dolphins are 1-5 and look like a sinking ship, they will part ways with several players to gain draft capital.

With the Lions searching for another pass rusher, giving the Dolphins 2026 fifth and sixth round picks should be enough to get that deal across the finish line.

Lions Trade for Bradley Chubb in Projected Trade

The Lions are currently tied for fourth in the NFL in team sacks (19), with Aidan Hutchinson leading the charge with six sacks. They are still generating pressure consistently, but the addition of a player like Chubb would make them a better defense.

In six games with Miami this season, he has secured 15 total tackles, six QB hits, 13 pressures, and four sacks. This is a good start for Chubb, especially since he missed the 2024 season with a torn ACL, meniscus, and patellar tendon. As the season progresses, he'll continue to get more comfortable and better.

He has been able to get into the backfield in his career, logging 98 QB hits, 49 TFLs, and 43.5 sacks. He's also forced 14 fumbles in his career. Chubb still has two years left on his current deal, making $31 million during the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

While that's a high number, there's always the opportunity to restructure deals, which would lower that cap hit. That could be a pathway for Detroit, especially since Hutchinson needs an extension himself. Nonetheless, the addition of a guy like Chubb would benefit this team in 2025.

They've been dealing with a lot of injuries in the secondary, so having another guy who could force the quarterback to get rid of the ball quicker is a win. Russini's report showcases that they want to improve in that area, and trading for Chubb would help them fulfill that mission.
