The Detroit Lions wrapped up the 2025 NFL Draft last weekend, adding seven new players to the roster. While Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams leads the way, the rest of the rookie class can’t wait to get started as the Lions’ offseason program continues with rookie minicamp.
Rookie minicamp will be the first chance for the Lions to see what they have in their draft class. They’ll also be able to get a look at their undrafted free agents and the opportunity to scout players who earned an invitation. While the date was a mystery, we now know the Lions won’t have to wait long to get their first look at their new players.
NFL Announces Dates for Lions Rookie Minicamp
The NFL announced the offseason dates for all 32 teams on Wednesday and revealed that the Lions will hold their rookie minicamp from May 9 through May 11. It will also be the continuation of the offseason program that began on April 22 and features offseason team activities (OTAs) on May 28-30 and June 3-5.
Whenever the Lions get together it will be a chance to finish what they’ve started over the past two seasons. Detroit reached the NFC Championship Game in 2023 and earned home-field advantage in the NFC playoffs with a 15-2 record last season before they were upset by the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The Lions used the draft to plug some of the holes the popped up last season and were aggressive on the second day of the draft, landing offensive lineman Tate Ratledge and wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa. Offensive guard Miles Frazier, defensive end Ahmed Hassanein, safety Dan Jackson and wide receiver Dominic Lovett were added on the final day of the draft.
With a talented group already in place, the Lions are hoping their draft class can help them get over the hump in 2025. If some players emerge, it could be enough to give Detroit it’s first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
