The Detroit Lions have to head on the road to play the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. The Lions saw center Frank Ragnow retire this offseason and had to play some offensive line tetris to see the best replacement along the interior.

Graham Glasgow was the name that immediately stood out and was in line to start at center, and it's been revealed that he'll be out there in Week 1. ESPN's Eric Woodyard tweeted out on Tuesday that Glasgow is good to go for Sunday, which is a sigh of relief.

Graham Glasgow Will Be Starting for Lions on Sunday

Glasgow left a joint practice against the Houston Texans in late August due to a lower leg injury, but they made sure to reveal it wasn't serious then. Hearing that was good, but actually seeing him be able to play in the opener is massive for this unit.

Ragnow was a four-time Pro Bowler during his time with the Lions and gave them an anchor in the middle. Those are big shoes to fill, but Glasgow is the veteran who could hold things down for Detroit.

He has spent his NFL career with the Lions and Broncos and has shown his position versatility at these stops. Glasgow has been able to play both guard spots and center in the pros, which made him an easy choice to be the starter.

During the 2024 season, he started in 16 games at left guard and was a middle-of-the-pack starter. Nonetheless, he has 122 career starts under his belt and gives the offense a higher floor at center.

The center is the communicator along the offensive line and will call out blitzes. His experience in the NFL, seeing a variety of different looks, will be critical. Especially since he'll have rookie Tate Ratledge starting next to him at right guard.

This offseason, Detroit has been cross-training Ratledge at guard and center. And general manager Brad Holmes says the team sees Ratledge as their long-term center. While that's what they see down the line, they aren't going to make that move yet, and it's due to the truth they have in Glasgow.

The team is happy to have him step in to replace Ragnow, and fans should expect to see him out there with the starting five on Sunday.
