The Detroit Lions' matchup against the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving featured no shortage of excitement as these rivals squared off. Last Thursday's contest ended up being an extremely close one as Chicago scored 20 points in the final two quarters and nearly had even more on the last possession of regulation before imploding.

Meanwhile, Detroit used a two-pronged approach to secure another victory. Quarterback Jared Goff threw for a solid 221 yards and added two scores through the air, while running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs combined for 175 rushing yards on the day.

Early on in this holiday affair, the Lions even tried to get offensive lineman and incredible athlete Penei Sewell in on the action, dialing up a trick play that made him the primary ball-carrier. The call did end up backfiring, as Sewell ended up losing yards on the run, but he bulldozed several Chicago defenders first to create one memorable moment.

Looking back on the play ahead of Week 14, Lions running back Scottie Montgomery couldn't help but poke fun at the O-lineman.

Montgomery told reporters Sewell's ball security was "egregious" during his surprise run against the Bears. And he does have a point, considering Sewell held the ball in Michael Vick-like fashion while he looked for an opening. The star tackle also seemed more concerned with stiff-arming all of Chicago's defense than protecting the rock, but luckily no one made a play to try and force a fumble before he was eventually brought down.

Considering the Lions came away with the win, all they can really do is look back on this moment and laugh. Sewell had a clear spring in his step coming out of the backfield and seemed like he was ready to turn on the turbo boosters before it all quickly collapsed. Yet he didn't give up, using all of his 335-pound strength to shed defenders and forcing the Bears to gang tackle him in order to bring him down.

This is far from the first time Detroit has used Sewell as a playmaker on offense. His best contribution away from the trenches came in 2022, when he made a nine-yard reception to seal the win for the Lions against the Minnesota Vikings.

Sewell even had a touchdown earlier this year, but it was called back due to a penalty.

The former No. 7 pick was spotted throwing passes in practice this week as well, so it's clear Detroit still has a few Sewell tricks up its sleeve that haven't been revealed just yet.
