Lions Expected to Suffer 2 Major Losses by the End of This Week
The Detroit Lions season ended in utter disaster. After logging a 15-2 record and securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the Lions were one and done in the playoffs.
The Washington Commanders beat Detroit 45-31 and sent them packing. Quarterback Jared Goff committed four turnovers in the loss but had the support of his coach Dan Campbell and multiple teammates in the locker room.
With the offseason set to kick off fully, ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that the Lions expect both offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to land head coaching gigs this week.
Lions Rumors: Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn Are Expected To Land Head Coaching Roles
Schefter added that Detroit's early exit accelerated the hiring cycle. Both Johnson and Glenn are two of the hottest candidates in the league.
Johnson is known for being one of the brightest offensive minds in the league and is sought after. He's been linked to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, but the Las Vegas Raiders have picked up a lot of steam lately.
This past season, Detroit was second in the NFL in total offense (409.5) and passing offense (263.2). In addition, they were sixth in rushing offense (146.4) and first in scoring offense (33.2).
Meanwhile, Glenn has helped the Lions' defense produce despite being depleted by injuries. He is known for being an elite leader and is poised to make the jump. The New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints are a couple of possible destinations for Glenn.
Regardless of where they land, Johnson and Glenn are not expected to be on the sideline for the Lions in 2025. Detroit will have a lot of the same players returning but the coaching staff will look different in the Motor City going forward.
