Ford Field Will Remain the Lions' Stadium Name Through 2036
Ford has owned the naming rights to the stadium since it opened in 2002. As of now, it is the second-longest naming rights partnership in the NFL after Tampa Bay's Raymond James Stadium.
This signals that the Lions, owned by the Ford family with the current principal owner being Sheila Ford Hamp, will continue to have a positive relationship with the company going forward.
"Renewing our relationship with Ford Motor Company has always been a top priority for us. Ford was an integral partner in our move back to downtown Detroit in 2002 and continues to be valuable to the growth of our brand. We are proud to have an iconic, Detroit-founded company’s name on our building for the foreseeable future."Lions President and CEO Rod Wood
