The Detroit Lions have won four straight games and have one of the best offenses in the league. Detroit is sixth in the NFL in total offense (365), 12th in passing offense (230.2), and first in scoring offense (34.8). To put things simply, things are going quite fine on that side of the ball despite one key contributor having a quiet start to the 2025 campaign.

The Lions have poured in 34-plus points in four consecutive weeks and have been able to do so without Jameson Williams. The coaches know he hasn't received the ball much, but they are still giving him love whenever they get the chance.

Detroit wide receivers coach Scottie Montgomery spoke about Williams not getting the ball, but praised him in other ways. "If he's not unselfish, he's fooling the hell out of me," Montgomery stated, via Kory Woods of MLive.com. This was his best, cleanest, most physical in the run game. On the sideline, every single play, he was so excited for everyone."

Scottie Montgomery Raves About Jameson Williams Despite Slow Start

Through five games, Williams has 11 catches for 223 receiving yards and one touchdown. The Alabama product has eclipsed 43 receiving yards in a game just once this season. His best outing came in Week 2, as he had two receptions for 108 receiving yards and his lone score of the season in a win over the Chicago Bears.

It has been tough sledding since, but the coaches are taking the right steps to show him love when speaking to the media. Head coach Dan Campbell recently spoke positively about Williams making an impact away from the ball, saying, "Jamo, he didn’t have this high production of the catches, the targets, but, man, his blocking was outstanding in run game," Campbell stated, via Pride of Detroit. "All day long, he was physical, getting after it. So he found another way to help us produce and help the offense."

Williams' speed is something that every defense is highlighting in meetings leading up to the games against Detroit. If the defense doesn't account for him, Williams will blow right past them, and the opposition hasn't allowed that to happen thus far. In the meantime, Williams is still making himself a useful weapon on offense by opening things up for several other pass catchers on the offense.

Just last season, the 24-year-old posted career highs in catches (58), receiving yards (1,001), and touchdowns (7). The Lions know what he brings to the table and will make an effort to get him going. Although his personal production hasn't been top-notch, Williams isn't making a fit about it. He's focused on doing his job as best as he can, and his coaches are certainly taking note of that.
