The Detroit Lions' 2024 season ending in frustration can easily be attributed to the team's incredibly unlucky string of injuries. It is rare to see a team so completely undone by something completely out of their control. With this in mind, the Lions should continue searching for every possible depth piece and improvement throughout the summer. This includes looking to bring in additional pass rushers that could help the team ease back Aiden Hutchinson.
Detroit isn't going to find a more accomplished pass rusher on the market than Von Miller. The veteran's impressive contributions to the Rams and Broncos in each respective Super Bowl run are notable. Not only this, but the veteran offers leadership and experience for a team without much playoff success. Miller is coming off a rough season in Buffalo that appeared to be one of the final chances of the veteran's career.
Von Miller Would be the Perfect Final Piece for an Underrated Detroit Lions Defense
Miller might have the name recognition few defenders can boast, however, the days of dominance are in the rearview. The Lions' signing Miller is about adding leadership and hoping it is a worthy reclamation project. It is hard to see Miller's career continuing much longer at the level the veteran played last season.
The production was so inconsistent, and the typically solid defender missed the obvious more than once. For Detroit, this is a move to add a player who has had an incredibly high ceiling and understands what it takes to win at the highest level. The Lions could benefit from this even if the production didn't rebound as hoped.
For Miller, it is the chance to join an exciting culture that Dan Campbell continues to establish in Detroit. With the loss of both coordinators this offseason, the team could benefit from additional veterans as they attempt to turn the page on Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.
Miller has had an impressive career, one that is going to get a chance to continue either in Detroit or elsewhere. The Lions would be wise to attempt to give the veteran a chance to rebound with a team that is the perfect fit for the aging defender.
