Lions Star Drops Out of Offseason Showcase Due to Injury
Super Bowl LIX is locked in. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are slated to link up on Feb. 9 in New Orleans.
The rest of the league is focused on improving their roster and making a run for the 2025 season. The Detroit Lions fall into that bracket after getting bounced in the Divisional Round.
While there's nothing left to be done this season, the 2025 Pro Bowl Games are set to go down in Orlando. The Lions already announced that OT Taylor Decker would replace Penei Sewell and make his first Pro Bowl appearance.
Changes to the Pro Bowl roster continued to happen. On Monday, it was revealed that New York Giants WR Malik Nabers will replace WR Amon-Ra St. Brown due to injury.
Lions News: Malik Nabers is Going To Replace Amon-Ra St. Brown on Pro Bowl Roster
It's unclear what injury St. Brown suffered but he's stepping away from the games. The 25-year-old has notched three straight Pro Bowl appearances and two straight First-Team All-Pro nods.
This past season, the USC product was second in the NFL in receptions (115), fifth in receiving yards (1,263), and third in touchdowns (12). He's been the go-to option in Detroit's aerial attack and has been recognized for his accomplishments. Although his injury hasn't been made public, he wanted to sit this out to recover instead.
Nabers replacing St. Brown is a great choice. As a rookie, the LSU product took the league by storm. In 15 games with the Giants, he ranked fifth in the NFL in catches (109) and seventh in receiving yards (1,204) with seven touchdowns. He also reeled in 16 passes of 20-plus yards downfield.
The 21-year-old showcased he's already one of the top WRs in the game.
As for St. Brown, this wasn't his first rodeo. Nursing his injury is more important than playing in a game that has no impact on the Lions' season. Recovering and being 100% healthy for OTAs and minicamps is more important.
