Lions Tease More Huge Aidan Hutchinson News as Playoffs Approach
By Jovan Alford
The Detroit Lions suffered a huge loss earlier this season when they lost second-year pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson to a fractured fibula and tibia in Week 6.
When Hutchinson’s injury was initially announced, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the young pass rusher believes he has a realistic chance of returning if the Lions advance to the Super Bowl.
The Lions currently have the No. 1 seed in the NFC, giving them the best chance to make a deep run in the playoffs.
Ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that “the expectation is that if [the Lions] make it to the Super Bowl, Hutchinson will be in uniform.”
The senior NFL reporter also added that the young defensive lineman is rehabbing every day and walking without crutches, which is great news for Hutchinson and the Lions.
On the heels of that news from Breer, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported Sunday that Detroit is holding out hope Hutchinson could return for the NFC Championship Game. The NFC title game is scheduled a couple of weeks (Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025) before Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025.
Glazer also mentioned that Hutchinson is doing underwater running on an underwater treadmill and can walk on land.
If the Lions can get Hutchinson back for the NFC title game that would be a huge late-season addition and make him an x-factor for whoever Detroit plays. That’s why keeping the No. 1 seed is imperative for the Lions as they would only need to win two games to get to the Super Bowl.
At the same time, the Lions cannot put all their eggs into Hutchinson’s basket. They must continue to handle business for the rest of the regular season. Detroit will try to move closer to a bye as they have a matchup next week against the Buffalo Bills.
