The 2025 NFL Draft has finally arrived after months of chatter and rumors. The draft is taking place in Green Bay for the first time ever, adding to the excitement for Packer fans.

Many tapped-in NFL Draft experts released their final mock drafts leading into the draft. ESPN's Matt Miller mocked the Packers taking Michigan CB Will Johnson with the No. 23 overall pick. That isn't what Lions fans want to hear, as he would be a home run selection for them.

ESPN's Peter Schrager also released his mock draft and had the Lions land Johnson with the 28th overall pick in what would be a total steal.

Detroit would love to draft Johnson to bolster an already talented secondary. In free agency, they signed D.J. Reed, who joins Terrion Arnold in the cornerback room. At safety, they have Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch, but adding a player of Johnson's caliber would be excellent.

While that would be a dream, there is a shot that Johnson lands inside the division with the Packers, like Miller mocked. They have put Jaire Alexander on the trade block, indicating they are looking to move from the Pro Bowl corner.

If that is still their plan going forward, drafting Johnson makes a ton of sense for them. The Michigan native has clean footwork with great play recognition skills. He stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 194 pounds.

He has the ideal size to be a stellar defender on the outside, but there's no guarantee he'll be on the clock for the Lions. They are certainly hoping that's the case, but you never know with the NFL draft.

Things change on the fly but one thing that's obvious is that the Lions hope Johnson doesn't land with the Packers. Going from potentially drafting him to Johnson landing with Green Bay would be a gut punch, to say the least.
