Perfect Lions WR Signing Suddenly Available Before Playoffs
The Detroit Lions are currently playing like the best team in the NFL, as they have a 12-1 record. Their last loss came in Week 2, as the Lions have won 11 games in a row.
The fight for the No. 1 seed in the NFC is super tight, as the Lions only have a one-game lead over the Philadelphia Eagles, who are 11-2. Detroit is looking to have the playoffs run through Ford Field but they need to continue piling up the wins.
Their offense is already elite but on Tuesday, the ideal WR became available right before the playoffs.
Lions Must Target K.J. Osborn After Patriots Release
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Patriots are waiving WR K.J. Osborn, as both sides decided it was the best decision going forward.
Osborn signed with the Patriots this offseason on a one-year, $4 million deal. Things didn't work out, though, as he's logged zero snaps in four of the last five games.
If the 27-year-old clears waivers, the Lions should look at bringing him in to add more depth at WR. The Lions have a 1-2 punch at receiver of Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, with 'Sonic and Knuckles' running the ball in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery,
Those four guys are explosive, but getting more help at WR never hurts. The Lions have Tim Patrick as the WR3, who has injury concerns. In 2022, Patrick tore his ACL, then tore his Achilles in 2023. He's been able to play in 12 games this season but getting some insurance is always a smart choice.
Osborn is a player who has been effective in the NFL. The Miami product has notched 165 catches for 1,902 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in 66 career games.
Depending on if anyone claims him on waivers, he could be a great addition at this point of the season. Injuries are going to happen, so you want to make sure you're prepared. Adding Osborn would be a proactive move by the Lions' front office.
