The 2025 NBA draft is the first major stop of the offseason once the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers wrap up this year's Finals. The Detroit Pistons are one of the few teams without a first-round selection this month; however, general manager Trajan Langdon still has the 37th overall selection, which could be used to nab an opening-round talent that slipped through the cracks.
With that draft being a week away, there's still enough time for the Pistons to decide which direction they'll take with Pick No. 37. Fans do have a better idea of what that pathway could look like, though, following the latest draft buzz out of the Motor City.
Pistons Telegraph NBA Draft Plans With Latest Workouts
On Friday, Detroit Free Press' Omari Sankofa II reported that the Pistons' latest pre-draft workouts included North Dakota State's Jacksen Moni, Marshall's Obinna Anochili-Killen, Oklahoma's Jalon Moore, and Arkansas' Johnell Davis.
With all four players being senior forwards, it's clear the Pistons are hoping to draft a ready-to-play prospect who can make an impact in the frontcourt or on the wings.
I'm told the Pistons held predraft workouts yesterday for a group including Jacksen Moni (NDSU), Obinna Anochili-Killen (Marshall), Jalon Moore (Oklahoma) and Johnell Davis (Arkansas).

Five veteran Pistons will hit the open market when free agency begins on July 6: Tim Hardaway Jr., Dennis Schroder, Malik Beasley, Paul Reed, and Lindy Waters III. Assuming the Detroit front office is already certain that any of those names are leaving town, it isn't shocking that GM Langdon would want to have a replacement waiting in the wings.
Now, it remains to be seen if any of the aforementioned prospects impressed the Pistons enough to warrant a selection in next week's draft.
Moni is a gifted wing scorer who just averaged a Summit League-leading 20.6 points on .508/.408/.837 splits in 27 games with the Bison last season. Meanwhile, Anochili-Killen just led the Sun Belt in blocks per game (3.2) and field-goal percentage (54.8%) while averaging 14.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 32 outings with Marshall.
Moore is a solid option if Beasley and/or Hardaway leave, having put up a career-high 15.9 points and 1.3 threes made on 38.1% shooting in his 34 Oklahoma appearances. As for Davis, he struggled after transferring from the AAC to the SEC, averaging only 12.0 PPG with a 39.0 FG% and 32.8 3P% — all down from the previous season's averages.
Round 2 of the 2025 NBA draft will take place on Thursday, June 26, meaning it won't be much longer for Pistons fans to find out if any of the above prospects will be suiting up in the Motor City next season.
