Now that the NBA Finals are officially wrapped up, fans have turned their attention to the draft, set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday. The Detroit Pistons, however, armed with only the 37th-pick, are not expected to make a big splash in the draft. Things can obviously change, and the Pistons can find themselves with more picks or a higher selection if GM Trajan Langdon finds an opportunity, but as it stands now, it is looking like a quiet draft for the Pistons.
The trade market and free agency, however, could be a different story. Detroit has some cap space to work with, and they will likely use most of it to bring back their free agents, Malik Beasley and one of Dennis Schröder or Tim Hardaway Jr. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be pursuing upgrades in the trade market.
In fact, the perfect trade target has emerged as Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson revealed that the Miami Heat are exploring deals for Andrew Wiggins. For the right price, Wiggins is a perfect fit in Detroit.

Pistons Must Pursue Trade Candidate Andrew Wiggins
The Pistons need more two-way players, especially on the wing. Ron Holland is unproven, Ausar Thompson's offense is a work in progress, Beasley has defensive concerns, and Tobias Harris is aging. None of them has the three-and-D skill set Wiggins provides. The 30-year-old can guard multiple positions, hit open shots, while being able to drive to the basket and finish around the rim.
The former NBA champion and All-Star with the Golden State Warriors, Wiggins is still only 30 years old and has two more years left on his deal. If the Heat are desperate to move on from his $30.1 million player option for the 2026-27 season, the Pistons should be able to acquire him for a bargain price. Detroit could use Tobias Harris' expiring deal or find a combination of Isaiah Stewart, Simone Fontecchio, and draft capital to bring Wiggins in.
How aggressively the Pistons should pursue Wiggins is open for debate, but it would be a mistake not to at least gauge Miami's interest after this latest report.
