This year's MLB All-Star Game is almost here, and the Detroit Tigers are about to start a final series against the Seattle Mariners before the 2025 campaign is paused. The Tigers are seeking their 60th win as the top club in all of the Majors, leaving time to tell if they can accomplish that goal before the baseball world turns its attention to Atlanta next week.

As it stands, there won't be an MLB team with a bigger presence than the Tigers at the All-Star Game. Ace Tarik Skubal, outfielders Riley Greene and Javier Baez, second baseman Gleyber Torres, and the versatile Zach McKinstry will be participating next week, giving the Motor City plenty to be proud about.

Even though the festivities will begin in a few short days, it turns out that the above quintet won't be the only Tigers heading to Truist Park.

Tigers RHP Casey Mize Reportedly Added to All-Star Game on Thursday Night

Late Thursday night, Baseball America's Emily Waldon reported that Tigers right-handed pitcher Casey Mize has been added to the American League's All-Star roster. Major League Baseball has yet to make an official announcement; however, next week is shaping up to be an exciting one for Detroit fans, to say the least.

If any Tiger is deserving of being in the MLB All-Star Game, it's Mize. The 28-year-old hurler has battled hard to get where he is after missing all of 2023 due to Tommy John surgery. His 2024 performance left fans wondering if he'd ever reach his potential, but those doubts have since been erased with each passing outing this season.

In his first 15 starts, Mize has gone 9-2 with a 2.63 ERA and 1.179 WHIP with 73 strikeouts in 85 2/3 innings. He's limiting opposing batters to 8.4 hits per nine innings and a .243/.287/.383 slash line with a base-on-balls percentage (5.9%) lower than the MLB average (8.4%).

A strong Tigers presence throughout the MLB All-Star festivities is worth celebrating, but it won't be long after that when the regular season resumes. Detroit's focus will be on winning a World Series when that happens, and the likes of Mize, Skubal, and the other Tigers stars will be counted on to help bring the franchise its first title in 41 years.
