The NFL will release its entire schedule for the 2025 season on May 14th at 8 p.m. EST. While that's the official date for the 18-week schedule to get dropped, several matchups have been revealed.

The league announced that the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4 in the season opener. This is one of the biggest rivalries in the league, and the NFL wanted to start the season off hot.

This isn't what the Lions wanted, though, as Amon-Ra St. Brown made it known he wanted to open the season against Philadelphia.

Cornerback Terrion Arnold also feels the same way. He tweeted, "We all know the season opener everybody wanted to see."

It looks like the feeling in the locker room is that they wanted to match up against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles. Detroit believes they are one of the top teams in the league and wanted to play the defending champs to kick off the 2025 season.

Many people expected these teams to collide in the NFC Conference Championship Game, but the Lions weren't able to hold their end of the bargain. The Commanders went into Ford Field and beat Detroit 45-31 in the divisional round.

In order to be considered an elite team, you have to beat the top teams in the league. St. Brown and Arnold both wanted to head over to Lincoln Financial Field and start the season off with a bang. While that didn't come true in Week 1, the Lions will still need to travel to play the Eagles.

And the league will certainly make this a primetime game, and fans will know exactly when that will be when the schedule is officially released on Wednesday night.
