The Detroit Red Wings welcome the Colorado Avalanche to Joe Louis Arena tonight. The Red Wings are in the midst of a three-game winning streak.

The Detroit Red Wings face the hated Colorado Avalanche tonight at Joe Louis Arena for the first time this season. The Red Wings are undefeated so far on this homestand.

This is the first time these two teams have met this season. The second game will be the Stadium Series Outdoor game at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado. The game will be played on February 27th. But we’ll talk more about that game in the next couple weeks.

The Avalanche are led by young guns Matt Duchene, Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog. The Avalanche are also 12th in the NHL in goals but are going to most likely face the hottest goalie in the NHL in Petr Mrazek.

The Red Wings are starting to heat up. They’ve won three in a row, outscoring their opponents 11-2. Mrazek has been the key to this streak. He was just two minutes away from getting his second straight shutout.

Mrazek has been red hot in fact people are starting to think he should be considered for the Vezina. That argument can definitely be made in my opinion.

Here is all the important information for tonight’s game:

72. . 103. Final.

Colorado Avalanche (28-25-4) at Detroit Red Wings (28-18-8)
Joe Louis Arena – Detroit, MI
Game Time: 7:30 PM ET
TV: Fox Sports Detroit
Radio: 97.1 FM/1270 AM in Detroit (click here for affiliates)
Online Streaming: NHL Game Center Live, NBC Live Extra

Can the Red Wings continue their hot ways? The Avalanche and Red Wings should be a good game. The Avalanche are 12th in the NHL in goals but 23rd in goals against, whereas the Red Wings are 19th in goals and 9th in goals against.

Something has to give for tonight’s game. I think Mrazek continues his dominance and the Red Wings contain the Avalanche’s big three.
