This week has been a super busy one when it came to Detroit Sports. The Detroit Lions released a big name, while the Detroit Pistons brought back an old face and a new one. The Detroit Red Wings headed out west for four games and trade talk circled them. The Detroit Tigers opened up camp on the 2015 season and the University of Michigan Spring football got underway. So let us go take a look at all that happened in the week that was Detroit sports.
The Detroit Lions release Reggie Bush
So Reggie Bush had a not great but also not really bad two seasons with the Detroit Lions. Well I guess if you had to pick one you would skew towards not so great more than actually good. Bush rushed for only two touchdowns last season and was a constant pain for any fantasy football owners that had him.
So with the release of the former USC star, the team now has a chance to replace him. With a decent market for running backs it will be interesting to see what the Lions do. With the letting go of Bush also brought up the question of is this a move to hopefully sign Ndamukong Suh. Many Lions fans are waiting for Suh to resign and with the NFL draft coming up in March, it seems like signing Suh would be a very important thing to get done so they can focus on the draft.
Detroit Pistons bring in new and old faces
The Detroit Pistons were active when the NBA trade deadline hit this season. First the team picked up Reggie Jackson from the Oklahoma City Thunder. Here are Detroit Jock City we knocked some sense into the trade by the team as they push to make the last playoff spot.
The Detroit Pistons then went and brought back a familiar face to the team in a trade that brought Tayshaun Prince back to the Motor City. Prince hasn’t played with

the Pistons since the 2013 season when he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. In his return to the Palace, Prince faced off against an old friend in Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Sadly the
Prince and his return to the Palace was spoiled by the King.
The Pistons play tonight against the New York Knicks at 7:30.
Joba signed and Detroit Tigers are back at Spring training
Baseball is back! The Detroit Tigers opened their Spring training camp this week and we looked at the sights and sounds of their camp. Seeing the pictures and videos that grace the number of Tigers social media sites made it seem more and made you really crave baseball and its return.
The team also made actual baseball news when they resigned relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain to a one year deal. Hopefully with this signing the bullpen will be better than it was last year. If anything the bullpen is looking more and more like a bullpen as we get closer to Spring games starting.

Alex Avila also is making some news when pitchers and catchers reported. He is changing the way that he sets up behind the plate to hopefully help him stay away from getting concussions, which plagued him over the past few seasons. He will also be using a hockey styled mask which should protect part of his face that at one time where not by his old school catching mask. Here is to hoping that these will help Avila stay healthy this season and let him to continue to play baseball,
Back to not necessarily baseball news Tigers manager is officially on Twitter now and you can go follow him. He said that he would use it to refute articles written about him. Then thought he might “Start a Twitter feud, maybe with Taylor Swift. Break the Internet eventually.” So if you want to go follow him and back him up in a Twitter feud with Swift you can his Twitter handle is @BradAusmus07.
Will they or won’t they the Detroit Red Wings at the NHL trade deadline
Another season and another NHL trade deadline where the Detroit Red Wings will maybe do something, or they might not. In fact in my short life I haven’t seen the team do much at the trade deadline, yet they continue to make the playoffs regardless. Which can in ways be credited to them drafting so well and their minor league system being the way it is.

This week we looked at a few options that the Red Wings could do this trade deadline season. One was looking at the need on the blue line for the Red Wings. While another looked at just potential trades throughout the entire team. If anything it will be interesting to see if the team does anything at all or they continue to just chug along as they tend to every season and continue to make the playoffs.
Michigan Spring football preview
University of Michigan Spring football opened up this week and here at Detroit Jock City we continued to look at pre-Spring previews you can read part one here, part two which is here and then the final part three which can be found here.
