The Michigan Wolverines overcame a rough day by Wilton Speight to beat the Cincinnati Bearcats 36-14. Who gets the game ball for today’s game?

The Michigan Wolverines finally ended up putting away the Cincinnati Bearcats today, winning 36-14. The offense and Wilton Speight struggled for most of the game but the defense once again bailed them out.

The game started well with Michigan coming out to a 14-7 lead and gaining 155 yards in the first quarter. The second quarter didn’t go well. In the second quarter, Michigan had 17 plays and only got 44 yards.

Speight didn’t throw an interception but he wasn’t sharp. He made a beautiful throw on a touchdown pass to Kekoa Crawford.

With the exception of Ty Issac (more on that later) the offense struggled. For the second straight game, the game ball is going to someone on the defensive side of the ball.

Michigan had two pick-sixes; one by Tyree Kinnel and the other by Lavert Hill. But my pick for today’s game ball will not go to either of them. Instead, my player of the game is Rashan Gary. Gary was very impressive today even with getting a very questionable targeting penalty.

That made Rashan Gary very angry and Cincinnati did not like angry Gary. On the very next play after the targeting call was overturned, Gary sacked Cincinnati QB Hayden Moore. Gary had a lot of hype coming into this season and he’s living up to it. He didn’t start a game up until this season but he made the Walter Camp watch list. That award goes to the country’s top player.

Gary’s play seemed to wake not only the Michigan fans up but seemed to spark the rest of the team. This defense has looked really good in these two games and so far has outplayed Michigan’s offense.

Michigan running back Ty Issac deserves an honorable mention for his work against Cincinnati. He rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries and was very explosive after not starting last week.

But once again, my game ball goes to a defensive player. Last week it was Ambry Thomas and today it’s Rashan Gary. Do you agree with my pick? If not who do you think deserves the game ball for today. Comment below!
