As the season trudges on, the Detroit Lions are still winless. While they will not go 0-17, they could still end up being 0-16-1 if something does not give in these last few weeks. With Week 13  happening now, they have five more chances to get it right.

Currently, the Detroit Lions are 0-10-1 and are coming off of a tough loss to the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving. It’s like beating a dead horse, but injuries continue to hinder performance, but this time play-calling was an issue for the second week in a row.

The Minnesota Vikings, however, are 5-6 and in second place in the division. It isn’t saying much because the Green Bay Packers have a four-win lead over them in the standings. But, if the Vikings are going to finish the season strong, another victory against the Lions certainly helps.

Earlier this year, the Vikings would come away victorious after a last-second field goal sank the Lions for the second week in a row. It was the start of a tumultuous downfall that has continued, besides the tie against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Detroit Lions are looking for their first win with time running out.

The biggest thing saving the Lions’ chances of winning this football game is the injury of Dalvin Cook, who likely would have been running all over the place if he was healthy. Instead, it will be a healthy dose of Alexander Mattison with Kirk Cousins trying to spread the ball around with wideouts Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson.

But, on the flip side, the Lions are going to be without D’Andre Swift, and it will likely be a heavy attack of Jamaal Williams out of the backfield. The offense is already struggling as it is; while play-calling has been the issue in recent weeks, it seems like injuries being a huge factor is going to be the case.

It’s hard to think the Lions will be able to grab a win against the Vikings without Swift and an already struggling offense. It seems like it should be a closer game than many would expect, but maybe it’s time to start thinking ahead to the NFL Draft if you have not already done so.

Prediction: I think this game is going to be an air raid attack from Cousins. I’d expect him to be spreading the ball around and using Mattison to shake things up and keep the defense guessing. I think the Vikings are going to put up some offense and be able to come away with an easy victory.
