The Detroit Tigers are in a terrific spot ahead of the 2025 MLB All-Star break, boasting a big-league-best 59 victories ahead of Saturday's action. It's safe to say that the first half of the campaign went better than Tigers fans expected, making it interesting to see how A.J. Hinch's club will extend the momentum once the games resume next week.

As fun as it's been following the current Tigers, some fans have spent parts of the season checking in on the franchise's former players. Some of those familiar faces are absolutely killing it in their present situations, whereas others are struggling to maintain a permanent home.

When it comes to the latter, one former Tigers hurler just learned he'll have to find a new team if he wants to continue playing baseball this season.

Former Tigers RHP William Cuevas Released by KBO's KT Wiz

On Friday morning, MyKBO's Dan Kurtz reported that the Korea Baseball Organization's KT Wiz has signed 2013 third-round pick Patrick Murphy. To make room for the veteran pitcher, the Wiz released former Tigers reliever William Cuevas, making him a free agent.

There's a good chance that not many Tigers fans remember Cuevas' time in the Motor City, and for good reason. The Venezuelan righty signed a minor-league deal with Detroit ahead of the 2017 campaign and only ended up playing one game for the club, which saw him allow four earned runs in less than an inning of work against Cleveland on Apr. 14.

He eventually elected free agency after being outrighted to Triple-A almost two months later. He's since spent time with the Miami Marlins, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as a stint in Mexico and two with the Wiz.

It's going to be interesting to see if another team is willing to roll the dice on Cuevas, whether they're based in North America or overseas. The ex-Tiger's performance worsened with each passing KBO season, culminating in a 3-10 record, 5.40 ERA, and 1.525 WHIP in 18 starts this season.

Even if he didn't have the biggest impact in the Motor City, Tigers fans will continue monitoring Cuevas to see where his baseball career will take him next.
