Michigan football: Game ball for week seven win at Indiana
By Mike Rizzo
The Michigan Wolverines got back on the winning track today as they beat Indiana 27-20 in overtime. Who gets the game ball for today’s victory?
The Michigan Wolverines beat the Hoosiers for the 22nd straight time today 27-20. It took overtime but Michigan pulled out the victory.
The Wolverines committed a school record 16 penalties in the game. The passing game once again struggled as John O’Korn threw for only 58 yards. Once again, Michigan’s defense bailed out the offense. The defense made a few big plays but none bigger than in overtime when the Hoosiers had the ball. The Hoosiers got to the two-yard line but they couldn’t convert. Finally on fourth down Tyree Kinnel intercepted a pass to end the game.
Michigan did get a scare as Rashan Gary left the game due to an injury but thankfully he returned and looks to be fine.
Even with how poorly the offense played, the game ball is going to an offensive player for just the second time all season.
This one was easy. Karan Higdon gets the game ball for today’s win. Higdon had 200 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns for the Wolverines. Higdon scored the winning touchdown on the first play in overtime. Why Michigan didn’t run the ball more last week is something the coaching staff was criticized about.
Higdon had 200 of the 258 rushing yards for the Wolverines today. With how bad the passing game has been, it was important for the running game to take a step forward today. Higdon’s big game was the program’s first 200 yard game since Mike Hart did it back in 2007.
